At the start of 2020, Alysha Beattie and I were tasked with the creation of the Dunedin School of Art’s 150th anniversary logo as part of our postgraduate studies.
To seed the creative concept, we looked at the cover of the school’s first prospectus. The result: a logo that pays tribute to the school’s long history, while introducing an element of light-hearted intrigue. “We keyed in on the girl. She is drawing a rabbit that is sitting on the ground. The idea of the hand drawing the rabbit was playful and could stand alone outside of the whole image”
The process was as much about interpreting the image as it was about striking a balance between the celebration of 150 years of history and the identity of the art school in 2020.

As part of the Dunedin School of Art’s 150th anniversary, the Otago Brew School provided both a Pale Ale and Pilsner to be drank at the Art School’s celebratory events.
Alysha and I were tasked with designing the beer labels for both brews. The final labels were informed by the anniversary logo to create a cohesive visual identity for the 150th celebrations that was unique and celebrated the heritage of the Art School.

Thank you to the Otago Brew School, Dunedin School of Art and Alysha Beattie for such a fun collaboration!
