Founded by Francis Meenan in 1865, Meenan and Co is the city's oldest liquor store. In 1974, the store was relocated to its current home at 750 Great King Street in North Dunedin. The torch was then passed to new owner Chris Hart of Dunedin company SAMGAN Ltd in December 2018, the site now trading as Meenans by Liquorland.
The retail outlet has its own working onsite microbrewery, producing a range of beers under the name Great King Street Brewery (formerly MWS Brewery).

In 2019, I produced a brand mark and label designs for Great King Street Brewery as part of the store's rebrand and renovations.
The client wanted an updated visual identity that reflected the brewery's heritage and fresh ingredients. I illustrated fresh hops and wheat for the brewery's beer labels, that could be replicated across their range and as new beers are produced. I then adapted the labels and created individual illustrations for the brewery's new cider range, which is produced using fresh fruit.

These designs are utilised across the stores many platforms and products, ranging from 750ml pre filled bottles, fill your own riggers, warehouse storage and kegs. The design assets are also used in marketing and advertising material for platforms such as Facebook and the popular beer app UnTapped. The branding was also showcased at the Dunedin Craft Beer & Food Festival in 2019.
